FBIAA Membership Assistance Fund

Helping Members & Families Cope with Emergencies and Unforeseen Tragedies

 

The FBIAA Membership Assistance Fund (MAF) was created in 2009 to provide financial assistance to FBIAA members and their families who have been affected by a sudden, unforeseen tragedy. The Fund has helped families make emergency travel, afford treatments for grave illnesses and injuries, purchase necessary durable medical equipment and pay for funeral expenses.

Our Impact

Since its inception, the fund has provided over $3.0 million to almost 800 Special Agent families in need.

In 2024 several FBIAA families were assisted following hurricanes and flooding.

In 2024 over $650,000 was distributed helping over 100 agents and their families who were helped financially with natural disasters, family emergencies, funeral expenses, and medical expenses for their children, their spouse or themselves.

The MAF is here for our agents if their family is being impacted by cancer, serious medical issues, surgeries, car accidents, or other unforeseen disasters and tragedies.

The History of the FBIAA Membership Assistance Fund

The impetus for this fund was the donations received by the FBIAA for the FBI victims of Hurricane Katrina, the California Wildfires, a terrorist attack in Islamabad, and similar significant events for which no tax deductibility could be provided to the donors. Now, the generosity of donors can be properly recognized and appropriate fund raising efforts developed. Recent examples of Fund distributions have included payment for lodging near intensive care units when an immediate family member is hospitalized with a grave illness or injury, assistance with funeral expenses, emergency travel expenses in connection with a serious family matter, and assistance with the purchase of necessary durable medical equipment.
