FBI Agents Association Statement on Law Enforcement Deaths in Charlotte and Chicago

For Immediate Release: April 30, 2024

Natalie Bara, President of the FBI Agents Association (FBIAA), representing over 14,000 FBI Special Agents nationwide, issued the following statement:

“Federal, state, and local law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day in the service of their fellow Americans. The fatal shooting on April 29 in Charlotte, NC of four law enforcement officers while serving a warrant, including Deputy US Marshal Thomas M. Weeks Jr., North Carolina Department of Corrections Officers Alden Elliott and Sam Poloche, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Officer Joshua Eyer, and the murder in Chicago, IL of Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca on April 21, are tragic reminders that, as part of their jobs, these brave law enforcement agents assume great risk to themselves and great sacrifice to their families. The FBI Agents Association stands with these courageous law enforcement officers, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families. The FBIAA hopes that all Americans will join us in condemning these abhorrent acts of violence.”
