FBIAA is coordinating a fund drive
The FBI Agents' Association's (FBIAA) Membership Assistance Fund was
established to assist those members who are currently in need due to a
personal crisis. Unfortunately, the need to help an FBIAA member has again
surfaced. A senior FBI agent stationed in North Carolina is currently
battling cancer and he and his family are facing considerable financial
difficulties.
As part of his ongoing treatments, this agent has been
undergoing numerous rounds of chemotherapy. He beat back the cancer, only
to have it return recently and he is again aggressively fighting the fight.
This individual is one of those special people who keeps a very positive
attitude and he has continued to work during this difficult ordeal. In the
near future, he will be traveling to Duke University for extensive
treatment, to include a bone marrow transplant. This will be done over a 3
month period and will be mostly on an out patient basis. This agent will
have to stay at a nearby hotel during the treatment and he will be separated
from his family. In an effort to assist another member of the FBI Family,
the FBIAA is coordinating a fund drive to assist this agent with expenses
incurred during his treatment. The goal is for he and his family to have
limited, if any, out of pocket expenses during this ordeal. We would like
to assist his family financially with hotels and travel expenses, so they
can be together as much as possible during this difficult time.

In an effort to raise money and awareness, during the last week of May a
number of FBI employees from the Buffalo and Phoenix Divisions will be
attempting a challenging hike. These
individuals will hike nonstop and the 48 mile hike will take somewhere between 16 to 24 hours to
complete. Although it pales in comparison to the pain and suffering the
agent battling cancer is enduring on a daily basis, the hike somehow seems
appropriate because of its extreme difficulty and because all who
participate will suffer.
If you would like to assist this agent and his family, you can donate to
this fund by sponsoring one or more of the individuals participating in hike. An example of this would be sponsoring a hiker on a
per mile basis, i.e. $1 per mile for 48 miles = a $48.00 donation. If you
would like to help, please send your tax deductible donation to: FBIAA
Membership Assistance Fund, P.O. Box 12650, Arlington, VA 22219. (For more details on the hike, please contact us.) Thank You.
